Walking Books
Walking books is a program designed to get books to people who are unable to get to the library, whether it be a permanent or short-term situation. Books are checked out for a period of four weeks and are not subject to overdue fines. A “walker” will deliver new books and return the checked out items back to the library once a month. (If the Walking Books patron has a friend or family member who is willing to act as “the go between” that is fine) or the library will provide the walker. Participants may check out up to 6 hardback books and 10 paperback books at a time. New material will be delivered the 2nd Thursday of each month unless other arrangements are made with the “walker.”
If you enjoy reading and are interested in taking part in the Walking Books program or know of someone who is, please call the library at 816-297-2105. Those needing a library card will also be asked to apply; proof of permanent residence will be needed. Walking books participants are limited to the Adrian city limits.
The library is as close as your telephone. Let us come to you if you can’t come to us!
